A 51-year-old bomoh, who was sentenced to nine years’ jail last September for raping a 16-year-old girl, was given another 13 years’ jail by the Sessions Court today for raping her sister.
Ismail Ahmad was found guilty of raping the 17-year-old girl at a house in an oil palm plantation in Kampung Sungai Bagan Laut in Rengit about 2.30pm on March 12, 2002.
Judge Abu Bakar Katar ordered the sentence to run from yesterday but counsel Razak Sharif applied for a stay of execution pending appeal.
Abu Bakar granted the application and allowed bail of RM5,000 with one surety pending the accused’s appeal at the Muar High Court.
The Sessions Court on Sept 12 last year sentenced Ismail, who is the former Kampung Sungai Bagan Laut village head, to nine years’ jail after he was found guilty of raping the 16-year-old girl on Feb 22, 2002.
However, Judge Zamri Bakar, who passed the sentence, also granted a stay of execution.
Before sentencing yesterday, prosecuting officer Assistant Superintendent Junainah Kasbollah said the victims’ father had sent them to the accused’s house for treatment as they were difficult to control.
The accused told the girls’ father that he would treat one girl at a time starting with the younger one, followed by her sister about three weeks later.
He was alleged to have raped them while they were half-conscious after they were hypnotised during the treatment
